CoD4 - Still worth it?

I'm currently bored of TF2/L4D2 and I was thinking of buying my 1st CoD game. Since MW2 has been gimped for the PC, I was thinking of buying CoD4.

Is it still worth buying CoD4 ie. does it have lots of servers with active players, still get patches ect.
