Well I think it was COD4. I've just installed it, having been unable to wait for Santa tomorrow. At the beginning of the second mission, the game locked up (no error message or anything, just froze) and I restarted my pooter. Upon coming back into Windows, I seem to have lost my D: drive, which is my second SATA hdd. The BIOS doesn't recognise it either, but it takes a while (much longer than usual) to decide what HDs I do have. Any ideas?

Yeah, its simply that the PC no longer sees the Drive.

Probably a simple job of re-fitting the cables better...

<Alien>...Probably...</Alien>

Same Drive config?

Master / Slave ?

But then, they would not work before?

Perhaps the Jumper is a little loose?

Sata doesn't have a setup like master/slave. It also only has a Jumper for Sata1/Sata2 configurations.

I know exactly how IDE / SATA works.

It was this :-

Worried there for a mo, but it recognises each drive individually using one cable, so it must be a cable prob. Ta!

That led me to think that he is using 2 drives on one cable... Hence that would mean that its IDE and NOT SATA ?

Oh, and not all SATA have jumpers for SATA 1 and 2 either. Only some.

Alright, I forgive you :p

Nah, I have re-read it, and it does not sy anything about using both on the same cable, however, thats how I read it.

Simple mistake, but hey, at leats its sorted for him now...

I hope?

Oh, Masterdog... Is it sorted out yet?

Drop me a line and I will happiuly throw you a SATA cable mate.

I got millions of the things.

( No, I dont, I just have spares in case anyone else wants )

Yeah, found a replacement cable in my box of things I can't bear to throw away (you never know when you might need a voodoo 2 again). Working fine now.

HeHe

I got a couple of Voodoo 2's also !

Someone mentioned the V2 about a year ago ( give or take ) and I dug them out, took ages to find the floppy cable thingy bit, and when I did it didnt do the job, but I remember that the EvilKings that I had before, had the very same issue - I had another dig and found another SLI cable and hey presto! - Had to use Win98 Mind you and in an old P3 too, the performance was dire as well, but boy, was it fun! - I dont know.. Was it?

LOL
