COD4 System Requirements

I was looking at systemrequirementslab.com and tried call of duty 4 test on my pc and i passed the mininum requirements but didnt meet the recommended. It said for CPU i need 2.4ghz dual core or better on wikipedia but i have the e6300 at stock is that enough?

My Specs:
E6300 @ STOCK
Asus P5B-E
7600gt
2gb corsair xms2

Is that good enough to play COD4 @ 1680x1050?

I will be upgrading to a 8800 of some sort next year though.

Yes at about 2 fps!

I have a 7800GS 256MB, everything defaults to LOW, 800x600 although 2XAA defaults as on.

My specs are low, A64 3000+, Nforce 3 mobo, 2.5GB DDR400 and an AGP 7600GS.

That said, I completed COD4 yesterday and it ran ok & looked great (especially given the low settings!)

1680x1050 - You'll be lucky! :D - At least you have the option to upgrade to an 8800 - I'm still on AGP here!:o

Well the demo doesnt seem to run too bad but im not sure what other parts of the game are like. Anyone know how i can show the fps on the demo?

So the CPU is fine? (ill probably overclock sometime aswell)

Everything but the GPU is fine for COD4 and future games. I would try FRAPS to display the fps.

Wow are you serious? I can play it on LOW with some things on medium at 1152x864 & that is on a c2d 1.8ghz, 1gb ddr ram & 6800GT agp.

Ok thanks. I'll give it a go. If the demo runs smooth is it likely to be smooth in the real game i.e. is the real game similar enough to the demo that I can get an idea it will play well enough.

I can't say for sure since i haven't played it all yet, but the demo is the same performance as the retail on that particular level. If you can run that okay, then the rest should be okay too.

enable the console in options, bring it down with the ` button (to the left of 1) and type /cg_drawfps 1.

the demo, especially at the end in the actual bog defending the tank, is one of the most intensive bits of the game really. If you can run that fine, the full game will be good. i also found the actual game to run a wee bit better than the demo.

And those specs are more than fine. I have a single core athlon 64 4000+ at 2.6, 1 gig of ram (in vista, so its not plentiful) and an x1900XTX, and i run all at full (except textures which are set at high) at a solid 50 fps, if you play at medium you will get a very decent framerate. And lets face it, cod4 on medium settings still looks brilliant.

Demo ran very well, even with some cranking up of the detail & rez.

The trouble is , the various levels seem to vary in complexity from a graphical point of view.

Later missions were nigh unplayable on anything other than everything set to low.

Using Fraps shows some wild FPS variances between levels, some are ok, others, killer. - Hardly surprising given the sheer detail in the game.

Very impressed, but its a piggy bank breaker tbh! :o

Looks damn good on low even tbh (much to my pleasant surprise!)

Yes, I'm serious, not sure what your point is mate? - My rig should run it better?

I got between 20 and 30 fps in the bog scene. Seems fine for me. That was using the drawfps command :)

I'll buy it anyway and if i need to run on low settings until i upgrade my gpu.

1 question: 1680x1050!!! omg why would you want it that high! you do know you wont see much difference in resolutions in a new game like cod4 (its all about the texture/detail settings these days) if you played in just 800x600 with all other settings on max u would be suprised/shocked at how good it looks :)

2 FPS 7800GS? What the hell?

I've been playing it on low-medium @ 1280x1024 2x aa with 45 average fps outside and 80 fp inside with a 6800GS .
The game is not hard at all on system resources imo, compared to games like UT3 etc.

No it isn't, it looks like poo on 800x600, I've played half of it on high & 800x600 and other half on 1280x1024 @ low-medium and the 1280x1024 looks MUCH MUCH MUCH better.

Textures don't rly matter in CoD4 performance anyhow, I noticed no fps change between high and low textures, the only diff was that on high when I turned around I got lag for a sec due to shortage of VRAM.

ok to be fair i havnt got cod4 'yet', but i find that with other new games UT3, Crysis, Gears of War, bioshock, its all about the detail :) so maybe i was wrong in assuming the cod4 wasnt much different from these games :(

Hi, sorry to hijack the thread, but... ive just got a 22" screen and a 3870xt and COD4 :D:D Sooo... loaded it up to play, everything is on high except model detail, number of dynamic lights and water detail. It wont let me change it to higher, why is this? The 3870 should be able to handle it fine shldnt it? Im getting around 35 average fps otherwise which i am pleased with.

Those other settings dont go higher than normal. I think normal is the highest setting. I can't change it any higher on my 8800GTS. The 3870 should be fine for COD4 at those settings.

No problem my questions have been answered here :)

The 2fps was a flippant remark with a rolleyes missing.... that said, I couldn't get it to run well@1280x1024 low or medium.... I'll do some tweaking and see if I can improve things. Tbh, I wasn't expecting anything above good low settings performance.:o

:)

I've gone ingame to double check my settings and can confirm I played it at named settings smoothly:

6800gs, 3.2ghz c2d, 2gb.

I did find though, that the smoke from inpacting bullets kill fps making fps around 25-30 for me instead of the usual 40 outside or 80 inside buildings. Try to find a tweak to reduce or disable the smoke from bullet impacts, should boost your fps a lot when shooting.
It was only noticable for me though with a lot of bullet impacts up close ( ie. shooting a wall 1 inch away front you ) and that impacts far away didn't really affect performance.
