Thought I'd try this on my PC and I'm not sure what is wrong.

My frame rates are excellent - 60 fps solid with vsync and 100+ without it but the screen seems to flicker ... I've got all the settings up high and it just doesn't seem smooth.

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong ?

If it's tearing when Vsync is disabled then that's normal. It's because you graphics card is producing frames faster than your screen can display them, so tearing occurs as the new frame is displayed whilst some of the old frame is still displayed. It should be smooth with Vsync enabled because it would be capping the FPS at 60FPS which is all your monitor can display fluidly ie your monitor is 60Hz.

ok thanks ... I'm getting the feeling that it's my monitor as I see it to a lesser effect even under vsync

Then again I've not noticed it with other games when I have vsync enabled

Yeah having read through that thread it looks like MS is the likely problem.

Will test it when I get back.

Cheers

Disable CF & try with one GPU & if its the same then its tearing that your seeing & not micro stutter.

U should not get tearing with Vsync on & what your seeing is the frame rate dropping below 60fp and smoothness can be lost.

As above try, for what it's worth when I had a X1950XTX it wouldn't be smooth when playing COD4 despite being at 60FPS. It would for lack of a better word stutter every now and then. New drivers, clean OS install didn't get rid of the problem.

Cod4 did have a problem for many & but new drivers sorted that out for me.
