COD4 / Win7 Problems...

Having a few issues with Win7 and COD4

start playing the game and PB kicks me about two minutes in...

get the message: punkbuster incompatible with program driver 125120

initially i assumed this was my windows7
but i am using vista drivers for most things except sound

i have disabled my bullguard antivirus [it was in games mode before] but is completley off now

initial searching goolge presents the error code as being a problem with overlay programs [evga precision, fraps etc]
i assumed bullguard games mode/steam would be the overlay causing the problem

but closing both down make no difference

seems strange on a 5 day old install

anyone got any ideas?
 
I agree with the above post, manually update from the evenbalance site also if your running rivatuner that will make punkbuster through up some errors.
 
cod 4 multiplayer working flawlessly for me here on windows 7 pro x64 so you can rule that out.
Like you've said yourself, it sounds like some sort of fraps/overlay shenanigans, have a look at your task manager and see what processes you have running, there must be something that punkbuster doesn't like.
As others have said - http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php Make sure punkbuster is up to date before you do anything else.
Oh, and I'm new here, I've been all over the internet looking for a pc gaming forum that isn't full of l33t speak and morons, think I might have finally found one :D
 
COD4 on x64 retail Windows 7 home premium working fine for me but, as said above, i manually update punkbuster and i dont run fraps.

Strange, this problem has only just started for me today as well, although i have been playing fine on my 7600 install for months. :confused:
 
going to have to go through my tasks individually tomorrow and remove each individually

i updated punkbuster

i hate punkbuster - it fails hard
 
Mines been fine, could try the old fix of going into services, to punkbuster a and b. checking allow program to interact with desktop. Do that for both PB A and B
 
I was getting kicked as well, just installed Ultimate. Losing key packets. tried this out and works ok now.

PB losing key packets - If you Right click on "My Computer" > Manage > Services & Applications > Services > (Now look for 2 services PnkBstrA & PnkBstrB) Make sure they are not disabled and are started...
Note: If one or both of those are missing then you can download this program: http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe It will reinstall both services and fix the problem...

Did this, but, had to manually restart Pnk B
 
I had the exact same problem after switching over to win7. basically PB doesnt like overlays any more and if your playing through steam you have to turn off the steam friends overlay to get it to work. you will also see it in task manager.

its punkbuster being utterly ghey
