codec needed

Iv downloaded something and it needs a codec to play it, was jus wondering what programs you all use and which is the best.

Sorry if this thread is in the wrong place but i usually find i get a better response from this area.

Yeh would be better off in the windows section, get VLC media player it plays anything

DivX will play anything, its why I stopped using WMP because of the codec problems.

I use VLC. I'm yet to find a video that it won't play.

Well, I'm yet to find a video, or a sound file that it won't play.

i usually use vlc, but i also have cccp codec pack installed as well

Isn't specifically for vlc, iirc it works on other media players as well?
