Codec not supported

I converted a flv file to avi. Then I stored it on my usb flash memory stick that I then plug into my dvd player, that can play avi files.

However, it didn't play the video portion of it, just audio. It also came up with a message saying codec not supported.

Does this mean there are different types of avi files? I thought avi was a defined format and so any avi player could play it!

Thanks,

Jon

avi is a 'container' for many different codecs, can your dvd player play divx or xvid files?

you could convert it to them
