(again, no detail of console or PC version, its here because there are generally more inteligent discussions than the kiddy filled console forums)

Codemansters have gotten the rights to make F1 games from next year.....

Good/Bad/Ugly? We will have to see what GRID is like to see there track hadling. Codemasters made the BTCC series a great success, but it wasnt exactly because they were realistic.

Grid isnt ment to be realistic?? as far as im aware,

So i wouldnt base your judgement on that,

I think its great news, we should see decent f1 games coming out on all formats now :D

Will probably end up getting what ever they release on the 360, i have a top spec pc, but prefer to play car games from the sofa so to speak lol.

This could be mega news for F1 on PC. If they do it right we could see F1 games back on the PC where they belong. :)

I wouldn't mind an F1 manager game mind. ;)

Im not so sure. Im a firm beliver that driving games belong on a console, and FPS games belong on a PC. Then again, ive never liked F1 games, so im not sure why im even bothered lol..

Hmm so you don't like GP4/LFS/rFactor?

in a word, no

But thats mainly because ive never tried GP4, hated the rFactor Demo, and tried LFS and its impossible without a wheel. I used to be a massive GT fanboy. Ive got no desire to pay £100+ to allow me to play serious driving games on the PC with a wheel. But then again, I dont have a console either atm...

I dunno why, ive just always prefered driving games on a console, and they have had the large majority of them too (lots being rubbish to mind)

Hopefully they do a good job of it, will be brilliant if they make it as good as DiRT :)

We need a modern F1 management sim. The last one I remember is Microprose's GPM2 - ancient, not particularly detailed in some aspects and has naff graphics (although the latter is forgivable considering its age).

Im not a fan of management games at all really, but the sheer number of people who suggest such things means there is definately a market for it.

Good news if a pc version is made, wont be a sim just a pc port of the console version imo.

Hopefully its mod-able as the community will make it 1000x better than what codies will do.

I can see why you like driving games on consoles but I think there are some pretty good PC versions. :) GP4 is possibly the best I think.

Yeah very ancient but still decent. There is also the Europress F1 Manager (1996). Very, very good that. Better than the GPM2 imho. The game has a cracking soundtrack and you could put the game CD into a CD player and play the music back like it was an Audio CD.

There is a big market for it I think. SI Games make Football Manager and have also made ice hockey and baseball Manager versions. There is often a hint from visitors to the SI Games forum that cricket and Formula 1 manager games from SI Games would go down a treat. :)

Hmm, can't find much info on it, seems it only went big in Germany from the reviews.

lol

Bad news IMO - Codemasters aren't good enough to make good use of the license.

Have to agree with you there, when you think about it any game they make has to done in such a way that it's drivable using a game pad. That alone rules out anything close to realistic physics.

I have to laugh when people complain about having to buy a wheel to play a sim when they will happily waste £30-£40 on games that when completed after a few days never gets another lookin.

I get the impression CM will go for a more arcadey game than sim with this new license. Multi-platform releases are not usually conducive to hardcore in-depth sims like rFactor, GP4 etc.

I'm just happy it will prob come to PC now. With the previous license it was exclusively Sony's own platform.CM aren't ideal that's for sure, but its a better bet than nothing at all. I really hope its not so naff that it feels like the latest game 'GRID' though, coz the physics don't feel right at all on that (even for an arcade racer). Mind you I've only tried the 360 demo so far, not dl'ed PC one yet.
