Hi,

when you peeps create a new site, what languages would you say are a "must" to be used...

i realise it depends and differs on each site..

however are there languages you feel you just have to get in there?/

also would you say, photoshop or fireworks for all your graphics needs? i.e. creating headers, backgrounds , resizing pics etc??

thanks

HTML + CSS for the layout.
A dynamic language for the content (PHP, ASP, Ruby)
Javascript for some funky stuff!

EDIT: I'd personally say Photoshop, but thats because I can use it. I'm sure you could use fireworks just aswell.

Flash websites can be really cool to look at the first time, but after that i think the majority of people find it slow ad ever so annoying.

In fact, if I load a new page and I see that Flash is loading I just quit the page.

If a page takes more than a few seconds to load, unless I *need* to see it, I've left the site long before it finishes.

I keep this in mind when developing. I really don't care for any fancy animations, gizmo's or other crap if it takes 5 seconds just to view the damn page.

Also flash dies in terms of usability; it's good for the occasional thing, such as YouTube's videos, but that's it. I positively despise entire sites of flash.

I think we're at the point now where Flash is only really useful/attractive when used for embeded objects. E.g. slideshows/movie clips/music etc.
