I like them...A lot.

Maybe it's the uberpretentious side of me but...I like having good books laid out, on show...

Currently rockin' my table:

"Rally" by Reinhardt Klein
Some absolutely stunning photography, based around the World Rally Championship from it's inception through to it's formative years, group 4, B, A, N, WRC...My girlfriend loves it for the photography alone.

Modcon: The Secret World Of Extreme Body Modification by Shannon Larratt
Only 2,500 made, VERY few in this country, has been confiscated by customs in the past. Google for bmeshop, I won't link. Check the Media section of the shop...there's about a dozen copies left and they already change hands for £200+ in the UK.

Fashion books:
Femme Fatale by Serge Normant
Galliano by Colin McDowell
Imperfect Beauty by Charlotte Cotton

Mostly fashion photography/history/interviews/stuff...Don't know that many details - not mine ;)

You just have to be diligent. I was VERY lucky to get Modcon imported...And I actually picked up Rally in Australia for about the equivelant of £35. There's one on the book/CD/stuff site named after a very long south american river now for $75 used.

While you're there - check the prices for one of his other books; 'Rally Cars'...

$520, please...Hopefully, I'll have one winging its way to me shortly from an old aquaintance who is selling everything and moving to Barbados to sit on the beach all day, fish and drink rum.

You're looking at £50 for Galliano, £30 for Imperfect Beauty and £20 for Femme Fatale...Fashion books seem much more affordable. Oh, the ironing...

I don't really know what you mean by show off books BUT...

The kind of book that you can leave on your coffee table, that you can just pick up and read whenever, that you can read for a few minutes at a time, that is interesting and that you don't mind visitors reading.
