I saw a few of these a while ago doing the rounds in emails where a glass coffee table has a screen built in. Has anyone ever seen one in person and if so what were they like? Im thinking of making one or buying one if they are within my budget but Im concerned about the reflection overhead lights may cast on the screen and render it useless.

It would mainly be for showing adverts(still) and video but the occassional surf of the web too.

Might it be better if the screen was slightly angled perhaps?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

I couldn’t think of any more uncomfortable way to watch or surf then leaning over a coffee table. Sounds like a complete waste of money. Not wanting to be obvious but they are for resting cups, books, newspapers and assorted rubbish.

Thanks for the link, pretty neat but a bit pricey!

Its as much of a gimmick as anything else really to advertise products, I think if it was low enough then it should be ok to show someone a picture of a product or what ever.

Its really for if you get a few mates around and all crown round and do things on it (what is up to them) but you get the idea, you wouldn't want to watch TV on it XD

If you're a programmer you could make all sorts of crazy drinking games to play at that table!

Get a 27 inch iMac take it off the base and hammer/weld some legs to the corners...

Glass table with screen built in! (to avoid scratches apply a protective film similar to the Zagg invisible shield for iPad/iPhone)

I'm still not sure myself if this is a serious response or not... take it as you wish :p
