Hey i've got a Linksys WRT54GR, and i'm trying to block Bit Torrent from running at certain times for my flatmate.

I've set up the Access Restriction to block the particular ports and all and I'll put in his MAC address in the applied PCs section. But the thing is I put his MAC address in and when I enable the policy I can't use the internet at all.

So I have to put my MAC address in as well which then puts me on the same policy and I don't want this as it has other random problems like trying to use Google Earth or upload photos etc.

Anybody know what i'm doing wrong here? And how I can only make it affect the PCs that I actually put in the applied PC section?

Sounds an absolute pain I had similar problems with my old linksys and blocking torrents.

Can't you create one policy that denies with his mac addy in and another policy with full access and put yours in.

Only trouble I had with blocking torrents was when he changed the ports so I ended up using opendns to ban a range of torrent sites hehe.

I did read on the linksys forums people had similar problems and one guy said he updated to the latest firmware and that fixed it. But not having this router myself I haven't a clue how recent this firmware is.

Yeah i've tried the two policy trick and none of it works. From looking at that link you gave me everybody has the same problem where in they simple can't make any access restriction policies and if they do it affects all the PCs.

Also the Tomato firmware isn't available for my router. It does the G series and the GL and GS but not the GR.

I'm thinking what i'm going to do is just turn the policy on and off when needed and have myself included in it even if I can't use things like Google Earth and random other things because it doesn't allow it to work. Also turns out my Uni work page doesn't work with the restrictions on.

Ah well. Thanks for the help guys.
