-COH- and d3d 10 performance

DX10 is faster as it allows a heck of a lot more objects to be displayed on screen, and allows other fancy features like extra lighting and more higher quality shadows. Its either the drivers are poorly done, or the cards just aren't powerful enough to cope with them yet. Nvidia and ATI had nothing to test the cards properly for DX10 performance while they were designing it, so its probable that it is just underpowered.

What kind of frame rates can you expect using an 8600 card and DX10?
Depends on what detail settings you use and what resolution as well as your CPU. Obviously this card will support the game pretty well though, so I would expect at least 30-40 FPS on high detail.

Note that's only a 8600 card.

Its not supposed to, this was all said months and months ago, Dx10 just takes the load of your CPU and puts it onto your GPU so you can have more objects on screen, and run the new SM4.0 effects (which is all the graphical change is) and keep the frame-rate up as your CPU is not being used.

But that would mean equal or better performance what you are saying, when at the moment, it means lower or lower performance.
