Been listening to these guys for some time now, after that crazy music guy Carzy recommended them.

They took a couple of listens to grow on me, but holy moly, did they ever! SO good!

I just can't believe how musically aware they are. I would be tempted to say they are my favourite band ever...

Recommend anything similar?

"crazy music guy"

Cheers :D

Erm, yea they are fantastic. Their first two proper albums are better than their latest (I won't even attempt to name their latest as it has the stupidest name ever, relating to the fact that all their albums are written in conjunction with a comic book, telling a story). They are great live too.

You could try Thrice I guess, because they are doing a dual tour with them over the next few weeks. Not really the same, but regardless the new Thrice album is fantastic.

It's difficult to think of much like them, because they are the only band that has that "nu-emo" sound, but also mixes it up with prog rock influences.

I'd try MewithoutYou aswell, because they supported CoCa on one of the times I've seen them live.

30 Seconds To Mars are semi-experimental with their sound too, so you might like them. You may well like Kaddisfly and Murder By Death

Also try Cursive, Finch, Motion City Soundtrack, Patrick Wolf, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Sunny Day Real Estate, Taking Back Sunday, The Appleseed Cast, The Juliana Theory and Bleed The Dream.

Some of the links are tenuous at best, but I'm just thinking of bands you might like, given you like CoCa, rather than bands that sound like CoCa. Hope that helps :)

Yeh they're great, A favor house atlantic is my most played song in itunes, behind Anberlin - they're amazing too though not greatly comparable.

Yea Anberlin's music is good, but I swear (and so did a few others) that they were mimiking when I went to see them :o kind of ruined it!
Thanks for the recommendations carzy, might have to have a look at some of them myself.

last.fm recommended anberlin to me... got i cant stand them!

C & C are pretty good, i really like the sound, i only have IV and III dont have I or II. i'm finding IV a little emo for my liking.

i'm really looking forward to the thrice gig with them!

That's because "I" doesn't actually exist. If anything it'll be when they played under the name "Shabutie" (sp?) and released an album called "The Penelope Hour EP". It's not a great album anyways.

Dude, good recommendation - they're all good bands (I haven't heard Patrick Wolf though.)

Oh maybe try Bayside too, they're quite vocal driven.

They have "The Second Stage Turbine Blade", and then "The Penelope Hour EP".

I actually prefer them in reverse order! I think IV > III >> II

I've got Vheissu and The Artist and Identity. About to listen to Illusion.

30 Seconds are OK, Cursive are pretty good, Sunny Day real estate are mediochre, Taking Back Sunday are AWESOME, Juliana Theory are pretty good. I'll give some of them a go.

Thanks again d00d!

I'm listening to a Coheed and Cambria Radio station on Pandora right now, and it's chosen Fire When Ready - 'A Funeral with Wedding Vows'. Have you heard or do you like Fire When Ready? They almost sound like a blend of Thrice and CoCa.

Never heard of them. It makes me laugh that you say SDRE are mediocre though, seeing as they were one of the main bands to start the entire "new" emo scene, and are probably one of the most influential bands in terms of the music you are asking for in this thread :)

Sorry, just expressing my own experience of them. Maybe I should give them a 2nd chance....

What albums have you heard? Listen to Diary, it's genius. Fair play if you don't like them, they came long before bands like CoCa and TBS did, and so sound different in some ways, but they were massively influential. You can hear SDRE in Thursday and anything by Jonah Matranga (onelinedrawing, Gratitude etc), and lots of other bands.

Wow.. just listening to "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3".... wow. Kinda hints of Rush in there, but a little more metal influences. Good stuff :)

i only just found out that all of these songs are telling a story, lol. i never understood the name coheed and cambria, but now i do lol.

i might try and get hold of the graphic novels for each album :)

Coheed and Cambria are astonishing I absolutley love them, and luckily I am going to see them this thursday coming! woooooooohooooooooo!

The new album is stunning, but I still love the frst to pieces.

Listen to Rush to find out where there influences lie....

Are we talking about the same band that I saw on Scuzz the other day, fronted by a short fat hairy dude with a bad perm? If so, I thought they were kind of a joke tbh, seriously. Kind of like a whole band of Jack Blacks, mainly because of the way they looked but also as the song (the title of which I forget) was awful.

I saw this at Southampton Guild Hall - absolutely fantastic in my opinion - more so as I got in for free :D

Ive been listening to In Keeping and Good Apollo for a while now, just got hold of Penelope Hour and liking it muchly :) (and is also why i dragged this from the depths...)

i felt that the coheed set wasn't very energetic at that gig, was just a bit plain and bland, but i loved the gig none the less.
Thrice really put the effort in, didnt like whoever was throwing water on stage at the end though

the soton guildhall is just so strict though, its too strict for gigs!
