I have looked a lot on the internet to find reasons why coil whine appears to be a problem on a graphic card and couldn't figure it out .. I still don't know how am I supposed to avoid buying a gpu which might whine like a pig and stuff like this.. Can you guys help me to understand at least how to solve this problem ( about to get new components for my pc ). thanks

Coil whine is associated with transformers, when people put in a new graphics card that draws more power, its put more strain on the psu's transformer and sometimes the windings can become loose and vibrate at high frequency.

Although you can get capacitor whine, just google whatever you intend to buy and check what people are saying about the product. Also check the GPU forum and have a look at the returns post, returning to a UK based RMA will be easier if you encounter problems.

If there were a way of identifying the coil that's whining, surely putting some hot glue on it (the stuff meant for use on PCBs and on components) would do the job?
