I am getting a high pitched shrieking noise which sounds like coil whine.
I only get the noise when I am gaming, and especially on menus when V-sync is off and the FPS is massively increased (as it's a menu).
Initially I thought that this must be my GPU as it has only started happening since I installed my new GPU, but the noise actually seems to be coming from my PSU?
Is this normal considering that the noise only occurs since I installed my new GPU, and only occurs when gaming?
Does it mean that the new GPU is pulling more power, meaning the PSU has to work harder and therefore the coil whine is happening?
My specs are:
i5 4670k @ 4.4GhZ
Corsair GS800 PSU
Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX970
etc.
Any help at all would be appreciated. If it does turn out to be the PSU and you think changing my PSU for a new fully modular Gold one will help, which one would be best for my needs?
Thanks.
