Cold boot prob

Ive done a build for this guy, using...........
Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz (Bloomfield)
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
Corsair Memory XMS3 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600) Triple Channel

It has a cold boot prob, where you turn it on in the morning and as win7 is booting it BSOD with a memory management error and it keep looping like that untill you turn it off and on again. Ive told the guy to change the memory from 1333mhz to 1066mhz, if it should happen again this morning.

Its a strange 1, tho cos it only happens if pc been off more then 3-4hrs, and its fine if you turn it off and on again, and its a rock solid machine. So basically Im out of ideas if it dont solve the prob by under clocking the mem.

Been looking on the net about this prob and it seems to be a common prob and can happen with any board and memory, Ppl solved this prob by changing the memory for different stuff

But will people accept memory back if its not faulty?

Yep... cold boot problem a common one and one of the most annoying in my opinion. As the machine probably then works just fine and dandy when warm!

I had one recently when I swapped my components over to a new case. If you waited long enough (which I didn't the first few times) it eventually came up with a BSOD that pointed to the Graphics card. Removed and reseated it (even though it looked fine), problem solved. Not your problem I suspect by the sound of it.

Just a coincidence maybe, or maybe because a lot of folks tend to buy Corsair memory (me included) what with it's top notch warranty etc., but I've come across a couple of items / posts recently regarding Gigabyte mobo problems and the common item was Corsair memory (probably a coincidence but..). I should point out that I was looking at reviews /posts / problems on P55 boards, as I'm thinking about a re-build myself soon. Just got that "itch". The only thing that makes me hesitate, is that my current build has been so stable (touch wood). Only problem was the one I previously mentioned and that was solvable. Not bad for what is a budget board.

Good luck in solving your problem.

As to a retailer taking your memory back, unlikely I suspect (unless within the DSR time scale).
