Cold Boot No start up for new rig!

Alright guys,

Bit of a problem, just put together my new system, but it wont power on. Triggering the button causes nothing to happen on the system. The only spark of life i get is when i turn on the power for the first time at the wall the keyboard lights come on, indicating its receiving power. Ive tried starting it outside of the case to no effect, and using a different switch on the button jumper. However, since this is my first PC build i don't want to continue to try things if they are incorrect or could harm my PC. Any help appreciated!

P.S have checked all connections but havent dismantled and put back together yet

right ive checked psu, mounted fine no bent pins ect, ram checked, is ok.

On the gfx card though im having trouble getting the 6 pin extra power to go fully into its dock (dodgy plastic moulding on the cable) it is most of the way in but not all of it. Could this be causing it to not start up? Also it is important to have the molex to pci e power converter to be on the same rail? as at the moment it is being split between two rails, with the sata drive on one and the dvd on the other.

Finally is it ok to try and start the comp without the gfx card in? (the mobo has no onboard gfx)?

you should be fine with mobo gfx, if only to rule out the card. However even without you pushing the extra power to the gfx card, some cards that require extra power can still function at a lower rate. Give it a shot without the card and see how you get on. Hopefully it will work and its just a new cable.

well i removed gfx card and we have life! standard boot up, although i have no way of checking it as there isnt a vga out on the mobo

Does this mean that the cable is dodgy, or just that the psu isnt man enough for the job? (its a 450w unbranded psu running C2D e6300, 2 gig ram and a x1950xt, and sata drive)
