During the colder days and months my monitor stays blank when starting my PC, it can sometimes be like this for 5 minutes. Even when the PC has been on for a couple of hours if I switch off the monitor, leaving the PC on, and come back say 20minutes later I have the same issue.

Pressing it on and off does not seem to help I just have to wait.

It happened last winter and was okay during the summer, there might be a chance that its not temperature related and just a coincidence, any ideas on how I can solve it?

whats the specification of your pc?
I don't really have a clue why this would happen but if you list what your monitor is and the specs of your pc it should help people guess at least

Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Bios 1011
Intel P4 2.8 (Northwood)
Crucial 1G DDR 400MHz
Creative Audigy 2
Nvidia Geforce 6200
Plextor PX-760A, Plextor 48/24/48A
Pioneer DVR-111BK, Sony Optiarc 7200A
ViewSonic VP930

Maybe your monitor has the cold bug :p I take it it's the one in your sig?
By the way your sig is too long, it can only be 4 lines max.
