i have installed this game about 3 times now but still getting this prob, when i go to drive a car sometimes nothing happens but my controller is config right.it only happens now and again and have to restart.anybody else having this problem,i have latest patch and using a usb controller.

I've been using my crossfire adaptor with my wireless 360 pad and was amazed it auto sorted the buttons and did'nt ahve to touch them at all and they even showing up as the X Y A B buttons etc.. in the game menu's.

What pad are you using ?

Yeah that happens with my P880 but not as often as you make out, only every time I save my profile, straight after I do that if I go to controller setup and reassign one button then go have a race it doesn't happen.

to tell u the truth i am not using the best controller its only a joystick type but i ordered a wheel but what i am saying is that the controller i am using works fine in other games but not dirt.and it happens all the time to me,i can play a few tracks then when i start a track it dont do anything,i have to restart the game.its a bit of a pain.hopefully my wheel will be ok to use.Saitek R440 Force Feedback Steering Wheel. just hope it is the controller and not the game

Happens to me with my PS2 controller on my USB PS2 adapter, but only if i go back into any of the option screens, gfx, sound, controller, i don't even have to change owt, can just go in, come back out, but if i go to play the game again i can't move, have to quit back to desktop and re-load, so when i worked out why it was happening only when i go back into the options, i just re-installed it again and only went into the options the once to set everything up, so my controller always works now.

Ive just wrote me car off right on the finish line, i smashed into the concrete post right on the line and it came up terminal damage you have to restart, i was like wtf, im an inch off the ******* finish line!!!, what a cracking place to write yer car off that eh. :D :D

I did that and thought I had done it again but I managed to cross the finish line six feet in the air going sideways!! Nice!

I've done that a couple of times, in nearly all racing games I like to handbrake slide through the finish line but it ain't so easy on such narrow roads like in dirt.

i must admit i go into the options a bit to mess with them,i think i will leave them alone when i set it up properly with the wheel.i love the game but some of the tracks are hard a fxxx, lol.cant wait to get my wheel on the job.i cant control them at all, whats the best ,handbrake round corners or slow before corner comes up.every body else seems to finish miles before me,maybe i just suck using this flight sim joystick.

I'm using a rather aged Microsoft Sidewinder USB joypad with DiRT, and yes, I occasionally get this problem - upon starting a race the controller seems not to be recognised. This only happens on the race immediately after I change some settings (graphical). Figure it's a bug then! (running patch 1.1)
