collapsible ladder

What do you want to use it for? What do you weigh? Will you be carrying anything heavy?

You'd never get me on one of those telescopic jobs.

I'd get a proper step ladder or if you could benefit from a short extension ladder then maybe a combination ladder to do both jobs.

I've got one, seems fine for occasional access in the loft which is its sole purpose.

Either that or get a loft ladder, but depends how often you'll use it.

I have a telescopic ladder and I wouldn't recommend it. They all seem to be made by the same manufacturer and once they've had a bit of use they don't lock properly.

I think the high end, expensive telescopic ones might be OK. I remember reading an article about cheap knock off ones that did not meet safety standards and were dangerous. They have even infiltrated the supply chain via amazon and ebay etc so there are plenty about. I think I would prefer not to take the risk.

How high is your ceiling? I prefer to use a little step up platform where possible, but I have a set of 3 section combination ladders as well when I need a bit more reach. I have these: https://www.screwfix.com/p/aluminium-combination-ladder-2-x-6-rungs-3-99m/4552x

There are fairly cheap but sturdy and perfect for DIY use. You can use them as a step ladder or an extension ladder, plus I have some rubber end caps to stop it marking walls etc. Also the fold down fairly small (less than 2m) so will fit in cars and sheds easily.

You can spend silly money on professional ladders, but for general use round the house there is no need.

We've got one of these and it's excellent. It collapses down small enough to go in a cupboard and feels nice and sturdy when it use.
Got the same one on Tuesday for loft access, as we literally have nowhere to store a step ladder. It seems sturdy enough for the 2.7m to the loft, but I'm not sure I'd be happy using it at full stretch

Depends on your house but it works for mine and ceiling height is reasonable.

It does get a bit scary though and it’s not as sturdy as a solid ladder.
