About Collatz Conjecture

Collatz Conjecture is a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to do research in mathematics, specifically testing the Collatz Conjecture also known as 3x+1 or HOTPO (half or triple plus one). You can participate by downloading and running a free program on your computer.
Collatz Conjecture is based in Wood Dale, Illinois, USA and continues the work of the previous 3x+1@home BOINC project which ended in 2008. It can run on an nVidia GPU, ATI GPU, or CPU.

I spotted the project a few days ago and had a look around - sounds interesting, though I'm not sure what applications it might ever have.

My only observation - I'm a little concerned about people with no history whatsoever with OcUK creating OcUK teams. Though I have no authority on the matter, I do know the options team founders have and I'm just interested in making sure it doesn't all end in tears.

No offence intended.

I have spent a lot of money on OcUK, buying my graphics card, motherboard, ram, cpu, fan, tv card & sound card (which eventually didn't fit due to the three slot graphics card). All of this just this summer. I am a returning customer and do like having a high spec pc.

I intend to buy more on OcUK. I just don't know what to talk about on the forums. Although I do find the forums informative when I have a query. I don't think you have to have a history on the forum to start a team. I just started the team as there was none available as oppose to me joining the OcUK teams on climateprediction.net, Einstein@Home, Leiden Classical, Milkyway@Home, rosetta@Home & seti@Home.

So as you can see, I only created the team as there was none available. If you want to run it, by all means I'll remove myself and you can take over.

I'm more of a screenwriter or a gamer. Team Fortress and screenwriting eats up most of my time. And while I'm writing I have Boinc running in the background.

I have no problem with you starting a new team, hope it will encourage others to join.

It might have been wiser to have if you had advised the forum 1st. ;)

Anyway its done now, so the best of luck with your crunching. :D

I've gone to the team page and I'm logged in but I can't see an option to join the team. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
