Im in the process of planning my first build i have all the hardware i will be using planned and finalized.

Now im onto the cabling. Could anyone please tell me or help me to figure out all of the cables i am going to need.

I will be using white braided cables for everything possible to keep the theme of white and black.

So far i've figured i am going to need:

Might have to go with a 2 and a 1 depending how far away my optical is from the ssd and hdd. Read somewhere on here to mount the optical in the bottom bay for increased air flow? That right?

I dont think there is anything else i would need the gfx card im putting in is the evga gtx670 ftw edition which takes 2 6pin PCI E connectors

3 sata power connectors 1 for each optical ssd and hdd.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

instead of that psu, you could get the AX 850 from corsair (something like +£30), and then buy the white sleeved upgrade kit (something like £50?), so the price is roughly equal and the white cables will go directly to the psu.

Edit: If you settle for extensions the bitfenix alchemy cables are vastly superior to the cheapo plasticy nzxt ones

+1 for the bitfenix cables, more flexible than the NZXT ones. When bent for routing, they dont spring back like the plastic ones.

Are they (the corsair kit) available individualy as there is no SATA data cables also plan to SLI so will need 2 more pci e 6 pins

and not enough SATA power cables.

The corsair kits come with everything the original psu comes with. So no sata data cables. It comes with 2 pci-e cables that each split into 2 6+2pins. It's not so clear but if you look in the images on the offical corsair page for them the one before the 24pin shows this.

And be warned that the bitfenix sata data are short. So this is one instance where you might want the nzxt cable if it's longer.

Edit: I am thinking of the AX series ones for 650w/750w/850w

Just been on the corsair website and yea thats enough pci e connectors for sli so no problems there also looks to be enough SATA power connectors aswell.

So now just to get the correct SATA data cables. Think i'll stick to the NZXT for that as 30cm isnt long at all

On the topic of extensions, when I have time on friday/saturday I'll be testing whether using them hampers overclocking performance in any way (for GPUS).

Im using bitfenix extensions on my gtx 670 windforce, ( 8 pin + 6 pin). I get the same maximum heaven stable clocks of +130 and +770 wether im using the extensions or the hard wired or removable modular cables on my corsair HX850w.

I wasn't expecting much tbh. I will still test regardless as my memory clocks poorly (max +595 on stock memory volts).
MSI advertise that the lightning pulls volts for the memory from the cables rather than the PCI bus so I'll give it a go.
