Bit of a wet Saturday afternoon topic. What are peoples thoughts on the subject of future collector items? Or any stories of random stuff you've found that had value. Some of the valuable collector stuff just seems kinda nuts to me, for example the first gen Pentium CPUs. Anyone made any purchases in the hope that 20/25yrs or more, may give them a better return on their money?
I'm just going through random bits that were boxed up from a house move that never really got sorted out, and it's making me think about cashing in on some (now collectors) items that i can't see gain any further value, but also got me thinking if some current items are worth holding onto. I've seen some games/CDs gain value, then have crashed. I've also managed to sell some bicycle parts that i've used a lot, and still get back more than i paid for them due to becoming collector items.
Chap at work decided to buy a 2005 Audi TT, very good condition with low miles for a good price in the hope he can gain some value from it in years to come, after it's been stored in his garage for a decade plus. Personally can't see it myself, moreso the issue of losing an entire garage to do it.
