college/ gaming computer

hello guys and gals,
persuaded my mum and dad to go halfs for a computer for college, but i really want it for different purposes
can anyone recommend a computer on here pre-built (as im a computer noob) that can handle basic college work ie office, powerpoint
but also double up as a primary gaming pc capable of games like battlefield 3 and skyrim on high or ultra
have around £600 budget but could stretch to £700 at a push

There both at the 700 mark, isn't there any body local that could build your rig save buying pre built.
It would give you more option to spend the cash saved on better hardware.

A retail CPU includes a heatsink+fan and shiny retail box it also has a 3 year warranty vs 1 year for the OEM product.

true, if op wants to spend 6 quid more ;p
the hsf is trash, so i wouldnt even count it in lol
6 quid for an extra 2 year warranty for a part that would 99.99999% not fail, idk...maybe for the extra peace of mind i guess

Its £6 for a higher resell value later on

but only if op keeps the receipt and box! ;p

If you don't understand that those items will keep the value of the CPU higher than just a plain CPU in a brown box then theres no hope.

If someone was to buy his chip after then they wont need to source a cooler for it.
