"The Hubble Space Telescope has captured stunning images of colliding galaxies, which have been released to mark the 18th anniversary of the telescope's launch.
The dramatic collisions trigger bursts of star formation and sometimes result in new galaxies."

The images are simply amazing. It's unbeliveable to think that each of those galaxies contains millions upon millions of stars. It completely blows my mind just thinking about it...

Nice images. :)

However, due to the immense distances between stars in the Galaxies there are hardly any stellar collisions at all, if any. It's just like two gaseous masses passing through each other. So they're lucky to actually catch a few "on film" as it were.
