ok I've been looking around for a while for some decent calibration software as I wasn't too sure how accurate Eye-One Match3 is (the software that came with my i1Display2 probe) and I could not find a single place to trial out Lacie Blue Eye Pro so was glad to see Integrated Color had released a Windows version of ColorEyes :D

After calibration with this software (it's compatible with the most popular probes out) I ran the quick visual tests at http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ (when saturation and black level) and could see the first box in the black test without having to squint and was able to see the 2nd to last grid in the white saturation test without much effort too whereas before a slight squint was needed to see them.

The software expects your input in advanced mode and I found the colour pre-calibration to be more precise than Match3. It also has a more in depth validator and uses standard dE99 compared to dE2000 like Match3 (though I'm still not entirely sure on the differences between the 2 other than one was brought out as a newer "thing" but review sites always use dE99)

And the validator that autoruns after calibration

I'll be keeping it installed for the 10day trial to see how it fairs out, and may well end up buying it though it's not cheap at $175 (£93) but I do like the interface and it does explain each option better than Match3 and the visual results do appear better than Match 3.

If anyone else has a probe then try out the trial and let us know if your results are similar !

i'll have a play with that too. Is there a link please to save me searching :)

Is there anything missing in the trial ver compared with the full package too?

I've just been reading northern Light's writeup on CE for MAC and have learned a few things (such as using Gamme 2.2 instead of the recommended L* can give smoother results) and some other bits so will recalibrate later tonight and see the differences. So far liking this software :)

There appears to be nothing missing in the trial, it runs for 9 days and can be used to calibrate 10times in that time. All advanced options are available too and it appears as though only software access is run by the trial, the LUT loader does not ask to be run as a trial so you could calibrate and leave I suppose :p

Edit*

Link for DL
You may have to create an account during the add to download cart process (I did), it's pretty quick so no big issue.

Also found it has a built in colour checker too (see here: http://www.auspiciousdragon.net/photowords/?p=392) good stuff!

Just a note, I find the LUT loader takes longer to startup and load the calibration - the Eye-One loader is instant but the CE one takes at least 10 seconds to fully initialise at windows startup. I don't mind this as long as the LUT is not dropped after loading a DirectX10 game for example like when I load Bioshock or Crysis the calibration drops and I had to click the Eye One loader to reload the LUT into the gfx card (happens on both nVidia and ATI) but I fear this is a Vista bug judging by various posts on the web!

I wouldn't mind getting a calibrator but it would need to cover

1) PC monitors, LCD
2) Dual PC monitors, allowing per monitor calibration
3) TV calibration, from PC and DVD
4) Gamma, red/green/blue sliders, greyscale and colour settings (not just primary colours but magenta, cyan and yellow)
