randomly came across an advert for a colour laser printer, 150 quid, much cheaper than I remember they used to be. I see the toner cartridges are in excess of £100 for the colour ones, is that right ?

have an HP Photosmart B110 just now which seems to eat ink, was thinking the laser might be more economical

not sure how the laser is with photos but I rarely print photos...

I picked up a dell 1320cn laser printer for £136 with 2 sets of cartridges, it's been going strong for a year or so, and unbranded/recycled toner cartridges can be had for about £30 a set if you shop around. Branded toner cartridges will cost a lot more, and are less likely to break the printer, but with printers so cheap, who cares ;).

there are often deals where you get a printer 'free' if you buy a couple of sets of toner.

The print quality is fine for documents and and the odd photo, but I still use an inkjet for proper photo printing.

You just can't beat the convenience and speed of a laser, especially on a network.
