Colour problem

Posted in monitors with no response, thought this might be a better place to get some help

Hey, hope this is the right forum for this,
Basically the few couple of days I've noticed that on the darkest parts of images the colours become blocks, similar to the cut out effect of photoshop, I don't think I've done anything since, except compress some files to save hdd space, was this it? :$

You might have corrupted a system driver for the display, though probably not likely.

Artefacts would suggest either a dodgy driver, dodgy graphics card or dodgy monitor - and probably in that order of likeliness.

So, start by reinstalling your graphics card drivers - getting the latest if you haven't already.
