Right I only recently found out about this 'colour profile' option in display settings. For years I have been using the profile that was associated with my Samsung monitor - all good. Then, I install photoshop and I get this message about my colour profile being 'not right' and all the pictures were dark?
So i changed the profile over to another one (adobe I think), and all seems fine.

My question is, will other apps/games have any issues now I am not using my samsung profile?

Thanks,

The gamma curve will only be adjusted on non-3D applications if you have set things using the Windows profiler. The main thing is just to run them and see how they look and behave to you. If they look fine then don't worry. If they don't then it should be easy enough to switch profile when you need to (I know this can be annoying and I'm sure some applications out there make this easier).

You shouldn't have to change the profile in Windows Colour Management... you can just set Photoshop to work correctly with your colour profile.
Go to Edit > Color Settings (sRGB is best for most stuff, especially web content). Or you can use View > Proof Setup and select one of the profiles from there.
