edit: Sorry, meant to post this in case central. Mods, more than happy for it to be moved.

I'll soon be kicking off a new case mod and am in the final stages of deciding on the colour scheme. I want something individual, the problem is all the ideas I have i think have been done to death a bit so i'm looking for some opinions and inspiration. It will be a water cooled build so the colour scheme will need to be carried through tubing etc.

Here are my thoughts so far, I welcome all feedback

I'm pretty much decided on the main colour of the case being a deep charcoal/anthracite so all other options will be with that in mind, unless you can think of a better main colour. I want the colour scheme to have a look of bespoke quality about it, but at the same time not look too boring and mainstream.

option 1
mostly black inside but with chrome fan blades and chrome fittings. perhaps chrome up the rads. tubing would be black. what colour lighting?

option 2
As above but with black fittings what lighting?

Option 3
Orange fan blades perhaps orange highlights inside with orange lighting

White fan blades with white highlights and white tubing on either black or chrome fittings.

option 4
just all black inside but what lighting.

option 5
Semi steam-punk look. exterior and interior in the charcoal but with rads sanded back to brass/copper and other highlights in same effect. fittings would have to be chrome or black. i couldn't go full punk as I don't have skills and wouldn't want to either as it's not the full look i'm after

would like to know what you think of above, and any other ideas you have.

Please go into as much detail as you can.

Option 5 - I like the charcoal idea and the brass/copper, think if you went with this choice you'd have to have the black fittings, not sure chrome + brass would work well...

Option 3 with the White and Chrome I think :) - White fans/lighting is so understated - especially white lighting on cases it can be really a nice effect, it lights the components up nicely, and draws attention to the components themselves which is nice :)

Like the idea of a black and chrome build, that would look quality, I would put red or maybe blue lights in there as it will undoubtedly have an automotive feel. Although blue is very overused it would fit the theme well.

G-Dubs, I think you can get chrome (or at least silver) tubing, though I don't know if that's a little much.

I reckon option 3 will be done to death before too long, so it's either get in first, or do something completely different.

You could always go with a natural materials theme. So, you'd have a copper CPU block with a plexi top, bare motherboard heatsinks, a sanded radiator, no case anodising or powder coating and so on. Clear tubing with plain de-ionised/distilled water with a kill coil...

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.

I've done the black and orange thing with carboot, and of course the skelly is black and yellow. I have to admit to being drawn towards these bold colours but want to try a different approach.

part of me thinks stick with my more "signature" colours and part of me thinks try a different approach, a more understated look???

There's not enough green cases in today's world...

Black and green? Black case with green cables and green cooling tubes or coolant?

Cheers for moving this thread over to the more appropriate forum mods. Again apologies for kicking it off in the wrong place.

So guys, any other ideas or thoughts re the colour scheme?

Natural materials! Would look really good and different if done properly, which judging by your previous efforts, is pretty much a given. :D

Like the idea matey, but how would I combine this to get the sleek bespoke look i'm after?

Polished brass and copper?
Black fittings?
Some chrome or not?
What about the fans, braiding colours and lighting etc

Not going to lie, I somehow completely forgot about the electrical side of things (amazing considering this is a thread about a computer colour scheme)...

Erm, I'd go with silver fittings, polished blocks in their natural material, clear plastics where possible, clear tubing, clear fluid.

As for the PSU, you can get silver braid, though you could do a bit of steampunk and 'braid' each cable with a piece of brass or copper tube maybe.

Lighting - well as close to natural as actually happens, so white or maybe a yellowish tinge.

It'd have to be very well done to look right, and not like a mess - which is why this is an idea that I won't try...

there are some really cool paint effects, how about heat activated paint or black with a cloloured webbing effecr or there is the ice effecr, then just use the case colour carried though the build like your other projects:cool:

Cheers Zairs

Don't suppose you could post some piccies of the effects you are talikng about, or bob them in and e-mail?

option 5, would be nice to see something rather than black (like mine) and you have talent enough to pull it off :)
