com to usb converter needed

Hi guys.

i have a sidewinder joystick what i want to use but don't have a com port on my puter.

it did come with an adapter to convert it to usb but i can't find it.

what's the best way of connecting it.

are you sure its a com port you need and not a game port ?

and now you see why i have to ask all you sage people.

it may well be a game port. in fact i'd put money on it. i used to have a backplate that plugged into my old soundcard. the socket was on the backplate. pretty sure that was called a gameport.

is there an adapter for it?

actually scrub that last question. i'm not that lazy that i can't google it myself.....

if i find a 3rd party one are they any good?

I too have an old game_port joystick, I remember it was a pain in the arse to calibrate it e.g. if I left it centred the cursor would move around in the calibration window which meant continuous drifting in flight simulations.

The adapters aren't cheap and I think I'll just have to shell out and get a modern stick with throttle, force feedback and USB for FSX instead of throttling the old joystick because it won't calibrate
