looking at getting this on steam, but not sure which version to get. whats your favourate or is there something better now??
 
Command & Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath is by far the best version.
Yes I've always loved Command & Conquer, Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun were one of the best ones ever made.

Command & Conquer 3 and Command & Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath (Expansion) are the most up to date ones (which are the unreal)

The latest is Tiberium Twilight, but seriously, if you're a traditional C&C fan I really wouldn't recommend it, no base building, no tiberium harvesting, no NOTHING.

Since EA got rid of Westwood studios and employed a new company to make Tiberium Twilight, is has thus far been completely destroyed! :(

I would get C&C 3: Tiberium Wars first, and play the campaign, as it leads onto the campaign story on C&C 3: Kane's Wrath (Expansion).

Then once you have finished the campaign on that, it's excellent for Skirmish and Multiplayer as the Kane's Wrath expansion adds 4 new Factions as well as keeping the originals.

It also includes improved super-weapons, new support powers and new 'super-vehicles'... By far the best so far!

Red Alert 3 has been made completely and utter rubbish, it seems extremely childish, like only a bunch of 10 year olds play it, HATE IT :|
 
4 is supposed to be crap

i liked 3 thou, and red alert 3 is also pretty good.

if you after a more single player with abit of story, i would say 3 + kane's wrath is the best.

i prefer red alert in multiplayer and skirmish thou
 
last one i played was c&c, but it was great. I'm now looking to get back into it with the miss's
 
out of all the ones on sale now, command and conquer 3 and kanes wrath are both brilliant, very similar to the old ones with good graphics and great performance, i highly reccomend c&c3.

Red alert 3 was ok but not as good, and the 4th was just awful.
 
just bought c&c 3, will wait for kanes wrath as there are a few more games i'd like to buy:)
next i think i'll go for counter strike: source
any others??
i'm gonna wait for metro and cryis till i get my new system

forget the crummy 4th Tiberium wars epic fail in my opinion since theres no bases to be built and no Tib to be harvested

Maybe Team Fortress 2 amazing game , or Farcry 2
 
i'm downloading c&c and it still say's there are over 2 hour remaining, is this normal??

changed my server to manchester and have managed to get the time down to 1.30 hours, is this the best i can hope for, i have virgin so i'm running at around 10gb speed
 
If you can buy a physical copy rather than Steam, get the First Decade pack. Comes with about 6 games and the expansion packs to go with it.

Edit. Nevermind, you bought it already. :(

Nothing compares to Red Alert 2.

Still wating for a game to even game close to that for pure multiplayer rts....

Maybe Star Craft 2? Only seen it, havent delved in to it yet...
 
Try palying C&C generals too - the upgrade system is fun and whilst the graphics are pretty dated the actual gameplay can be really really good fun. Its full of options and requires quite a bit of skill to play well.

However above all else - i would play WARCRAFT 3 and the FROZEN THRONE expansion. Quite possibly one of the greatest top down RPG's ever made with a truly awesome story line and some very pretty looking effects.
