How the blooming are you supposed to fight? I'm left clicking on a enemy and he's just standing there with the sword, he does eventually swing but then hardly action based combat:confused: ie press repeatly and he doesn't slice-slice-slice

Click once to begin a sequence, when you see the pointer turn into a flaming sword click again to start a combo.

This is all explained in the beginning.

Yeah, I played the demo and found it very tedious and boring, especially the fighting.

Make sure you are using the rignt style of combat for each enemy: strong, fast etc.
Using the wrong style can result in Geralt standing there like a lemon while being attacked. Also if you find he is not reacting to your clicks double tap a direction key to get him to move then try again.

The thing it took me a little while to realise is that your cursor needs to be over an enemy for the attack to kick off, he won't just swing when you click.

You hover over an attacker, and click - Geralt starts an attack sequence. If you manage to click again when the cursor changes to a flame, it starts a combo. Manage it again and the combo progresses. Combos are different depending on which fighting style you have active.

Combine that with your magic (force powers, basically) and combat is really quite entertaining.
