Really annoyed with the Reach line of websites, mirror and local news stuffing their sites with ads.
Is there a solution to this? I have 'ghostery' app but it doesn't do much.

Using which device?

I have all manner of advert blockers on Chrome for this very reason but I will immediately exit any website that's basically trash.

I use uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger on top of Firefox's own protection.

Make sure you go into the uBlock settings and enable further filter lists too.

Are we talking about newspaper websites here? They are bl***y afwul. Every one of them I have come across. So packed with ads, flashing images, pop-ups and the like. If I happen to stumble across a newspaper website I press the "back" button immediately. They are so annoying and so full of crud that the information I was originally hoping to find is just not worth two seconds effort to struggle through the barrage of Ads.

+1 to uBlock Origin, small and efficient. There's even settings to enable Adguard's filter lists within, but I found Adguard can sometimes block too much depending on the site, causing it to not display properly. You can fiddle around with it to see how well it works for you though. You can set Adguard for DNS filtering so it's not just your browser and affects the entire device/network, but I would suggest NextDNS or maybe even Pi-Hole for better blocking.

Don't use Adblock Plus, they have a whitelist that advertising companies can pay access to.

@Dup Privacy Badger is no longer needed as they moved to a filter list model a couple years back to prevent fingerprinting, which uBo also uses.
