I'll be moving in to a new place at the end of January and it has a combi boiler with program but has no room thermostat.

Now I know you can get the wireless ones but are they easy enough to get installed to an existing boiler? If so, any recommendations?

Your time clock on the front of the boiler yeah? Any electrician should be able to install a wireless stat for you, the boiler will have stat connections inside. All they need to do is take a feed from the spur to a wireless receiver then onto the boiler from there. I pretty much install them on a daily basis at the moment.

We tend to install Honeywell or Drayton, but any wireless stat out there should do the job.

A wireless room thermostat , has it's base unit wired to the boiler & the wireless stat can be anywhere, providing it can communicate with the base, usually has up to a 30mtr range.

What boiler, some boilers have a removable link (Thermostat loop), which you remove & you connect base unit wiring to that.

Have a look at the manual in this link, it shows you what I mean.

I've got a Vaillant ecotec pro 28 combi boiler with a Salus wireless room thermostat. It works faultlessly and saves me money too as it switches off the heater once the living room gets upto temp.

I went the wireless route as I didn't want to have to trail wires into my living room
