Combine PC's for more speed?

I have two i5 HP Desktops, identical in every way except I have upgraded the processor on one to an i7-2400. Both have 8 gig of RAM.

Is there any way of combining the power of these two computers to give more performance?

I cannot think of any way of doing this but thought it was worth asking.

only really practical thing I can think of would be if you wanted to stream some games on twitch, you could stick a capture card in one. and use one to play games on and the other to run the stream. But no, you can't combine them.

Not with the these two desktop's unfortunately, but people have been doing it with Raspberry Pi's for a while now.

It is totally possible, it's just dependent upon the activity you wish to perform, and whether it's technically feasible to parallelise it.

The question the OP raises is somewhat open-ended.

I am looking for a performance increase to use Photoshop and Lightroom, I don't ever game.

you could do a small distributed network that offloads tasks to the other PC to perform tasks for video rendering etc... but to be honest you would be best flogging them both and getting yourself a single beefy system rather than mess around doing that.

Thanks, thought so

Don't be daft, you need another 4 PC's of comparable power, then you can join them together and they will be an almighty unstoppable force! Like this basically...
