Combined PC Monitor / Digital TV ?

These combined LCD monitors you can buy with built in Freeview TV are they just one or the other that you have to switch between or can you overlay TV onto the desktop like a TV card ?

I use a regular 32" LCD for PC/HTPC.

Beware as I think some smaller freeview TV's only support a low resolution.
