i to am feed up waiting for r600 may not even purchase the thing just want to see how it compares

the only thing stopping me from upgrading at the moment is the sheer lack of quality new titles so nothing to lose by waiting to see what the reds have to offer

LOL it is now green :D

Agreed, don't even know how 8800 perform against R600 in DX10 games yet so I don't see the point to buy it now unless you're into high definition gaming.

Does anyone have some uncompressed screenshots of X1900 vs 8800 with the quality settings maxed out on both?

I see a lot of people make very bold statements about the superior IQ of the 8800 but very little evidence to back it up. For example out these two pics from tomshardware.com:

X1950XTX

8800GTX

In the review the person goes on to say "This image is far superior in quality compared to that of the ATI". WTF? They look identical! Honestly the only image quality differences I've seen on the 8800GTX is its higher AA levels.

No point waiting, you want a next gen card now, then get a G80, simple as that, when R600 comes out Nvidia will release a refresher that will be slightly faster, if the R600 is faster than their G80. :)

Yeah i don't know why everyones raving about the IQ, fair enough if your going from an old Nvidia card that had poor IQ anyway then yeah, the IQ will totally blow you away, but if your going from an ATi card, then its not that much better, and ive heard loads of ppl saying that who have gone from ATi cards to them, it is better, but not that much.

I bet all those that are creaming over the IQ have gone from an old Nivida series card, obvious the jump in IQ would be amazing.

Buy one and see for yourself ;)

I have owned all the latest graphics cards 7800/7900/X1800/X1900 and the G80 series is in a class of its own with regard to IQ. Its like moving from standard SKY to SKY HD. Its the only was I can describe it. The G80 is one impressive GPU!

Secondly, motherboards....

RD600 still no where to be seen for 775? 680i is out and at ridiculous prices because nothing rivals it for overclocking. 975 and 965 are good chipsets but don't have the features of 680i.
:(

RD600 is out on the 17th jan apparantly, you can pre-order now from ocuk.
Why do you say nothing rivals 680i for overclocking? Ram maybe, but all the best cpu overclocks ive seen are with 965/975 boards.
Ive not seen any results around here that would make me swap my Asus 975. The only useful feature the 680i has is it supports 16x SLI

Agreed, going from a 6800/7900 to a x1900 was a big leap, 8800 mows everything down and some.

Why would Ati release a sub par card though, they have teamed up with AMD surely thats going to give them some advantages.

In the past they have always released better cards when they do than Nvidia, the X1800Xt was faster than the 7800GTX the X1900 was faster than the 7900GTX, the X800 and X850 were faster than the competition, even though they had one main drawback, a lack of SM3.

Maybe I'm just being stupid, ill keep quiet.

Your forgetting large chunks there, besides, that's irrelevant. The point is, for all we know r600 could be slower than a 8800gtx, only thing confirmed so far is there is a new pci-e power plug designed for this card.
