Hi All.

I'm looking to fill a new iPad up with some comics for me to read when away with work. I've never really been a big conic reader so I don't know what you get.

Any anyone recommend any great comic series? I've bought Old Man Logan already (Which looks great), but looking for some suggestions on what's a great read, with good artwork.

Ideally I'd like 1-2 great Bat Man stories, but not just interested in the Marvel/DC superheroes stuff, also would like others that are good. I'd also consider some good Manga series

I've also bought Comic Zeal as my reader but happy for other ideas of a good app.

Thanks.

Superman ‘Red Son’ is awesome - it deals with what the world would be like if Superman landed 12 hours later in Russia.

You can’t really go wrong with ‘Watchmen’ - you’ll probably enjoy it more if you haven’t seen the film.

If you want great Batman stories, I highly recommend both The Long Halloween and Dark Victory. DV is essentially a sequel to LH. But The Dark Knight movie was based on Long Halloween. Another one is The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller. Watchmen I can second, along with Superman Red Son. Other Superman comics to consider:

Death Of Superman/Return Of Superman (The omnibus is your best bet)
Superman Doomsday (features various stories on the monster that killed the Man Of Steel)
Kingdom Come (Mark Waid and Alex Ross)
Justice (written by Jim Krueger with art from Alex Ross and Doug Braithwaite)
Superman: Secret Origins (Geoff Johns and Gary Frank)

Those are a few I can recommend for you. They are also some of my personal favourites. :)

Kingdom Come (Mark Waid and Alex Ross)

Ignore all other suggestions for now and read that - superb miniseries and not your normal superhero stuff - Alex Ross' artwork is astounding

After that, if you want some classic Batman stories:
Year One
Death in the Family
Hush
Arkham Asylum

If you want some longer runs of Batman to get more involved in:
Cataclysm / No Mans Land
War Drums / War Games / War Crimes

Think Superman is dull and nothing will prove that wrong:
All Star Superman (I promise, it's brilliant)

Surprising DC superhero stuff:
Authority

Surprising Marvel stuff:
Marvels (Alex Ross artwork again)
Any Garth Ennis Punisher
Vision by Tom King

If you like Stranger Things:
Paper Girls

Other great stuff:
Sandman
100 Bullets
Y the Last Man
Fables
Clean Room
The Wake
Unfollow
Morning Glories (calm down, it's about a weird school)
Harrow County
Sex Criminals
Wicked and the Divine
Saga
Hellboy

Should keep you busy for a week or so :D

Let me know what you like and I can suggest more

I use Chunky Comic Reader so I can pull comics straight from Google Drive

So I apologise for my ignorance, how do you read comics on a Tablet? Whom do you buy the comics from the publishers or other sellers. Are they tied to a reader or do you get pdf s or equivalent?

There are several apps available that will allow you to read comics on a Tablet, some are just readers, where you buy the comic and import it into the reader, others actually sell them also (Eg iBooks and Coximology), Most publishers will allow you to buy them digitally.

I swear by comixology, just wait for the sales which there are loads week by week and you can get up to 75% off massive runs of stories.

Humble Bundle do comic collections fairly regularly, where you can get huge runs of comics for very little cash

Thx for the replies, I'll have a look. I've always bought physical collected editions of things that interested me, Sandman, Walking Dead, Batman, Aliens vs Predator. I'll give t a look.
Does Comixology allow you to import comics you've purchased elsewhere like Humble Bundle or is it a closed garden?
