Are they a rip off or what?
Back in the 50s/60s/70s/80s they camere with a free gift every so oftetn and not again and cost lest than a quid. but now thye come with more that one free gift every issue and cost at least three quid and the yoys and stickers usually cost less than the price of that to produce.
I said to a customer this after noon that I'm sure the kids're more interested in the toy than the actual comic.

2000ad was about 8p when it started in 1978 or so.

I think it's around £3 now!

But it doesn;t come wrapped in plastic with a sub-Poundland quality toy, a chew and some stickers every month.

2000ad was very stingy on free gifts.

On the plus side, it contained lots of extreme violence that would be regarded as totally unsuitable for a child now.

I'm not too keen on Superman, Spiderman, ETC. I prefer the likes of Conan The Barbarian, Judge Dredd, Slaine, Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dog and Nemesis The Warlock.

Surely that’s the only reason that anyone buys The Sun?

Striker was the only reason I read The Sun.

Old 2000ad stories hold up surprisingly well. I re-read a stack of very old issues recently.

Kids comics these days are crap. They’re a poor quality toy with a free “comic” attached. It’s no wonder kids don’t fall easily into the reading habit anymore.

Some kids just probably want the toy/stickers. chew and discard the comic.
