You say the 5S comes with 95% of the accessories of the GoPro, i only see the head strap mentioned. Does it come with any bar mounts and or suction mount, chest strap?

From what i recall from when i opened mine up it comes with the following.

- Waterproof case with rear adaptor to allow for screen use, extended battery or wifi module.
- wifi module (if wifi model or not)
- extended battery
- rear screen module
- camera clip
- head strap
- 3 different mounts
- 4 pads for fixed mounts
- 8GB microSD or 4GB depending if its wifi or not.

- camcorder mount (im guessing for use with a tripod)


Essentially the only accessories you will need to purchase outside of the package is a suction cup and a handle grip, both of which will be available to purchase too!


Go Pros do not come with additional batterys, screens and the quantity of items in the box that these do. You have to buy them separately which is why these in the long run are better value, even in the short term they are better value depending on the line you purchase.

4S uses a older gen sensor and controller (processor) to the newer 5S and the quality of the 4S is great! Easily comparable to the Hero2 that spec wise matches it the best.

Gopro black comes with the WiFi remote mate, also pairs up with you phone so you can use that as a live view. I really don't think these will come close to a gopro at the price they are.

Marketing wise your probably correct, quality wise theres very little in it. Value wise they are better.

Lets just take a step back, assume Rollei went to town with red bull and had that marketing portfolio.. would the gopro then be the better product? The answer to that is probably a resounding no. It just depends on who is first to market and how they go about taking the market.

Mac and Microsoft were in the same boat when they started out, to a certain extent they still are in the same boat but Apple has clawed back over the years thats for certain.

There are many other companies that make it when others dont (in terms of public perspective) but that doesnt mean one is better than the other. Betamax was better than VHS.. go figure.

The Go Pro black is in a higher league than the 5S in terms of features but its £100 more and missing £100 worth (minimum) of accessories. The question is, is £200 really worth it for you? because for me it isnt and I should imagine it isnt for many others (brand snobbery aside)

It becomes brand snobbery when the product (a PC) becomes a "microsoft" which it isn't. Apple products becomes both "Apple" and "Mac" which is what it is.

Rollei are "action" or "sports" cams.
GoPro are "action" or "sports" cams but referred to as a "GoPro".

That's why your looking at brand snobbery here but unlike apple, most will indeed have and use the gopro over an alternative which levitates it some what.
