Should I get clickthepper temp insurance and drive around with l plates with my m8 and have an hour with my adi

or

Have more than 1hr a week with my adi

How old are you and what is your previous driving experience? How many hours of ADI-training have you had beforehand? How ready do you feel for your test?

Old enough, Pratting about on car parks, 12hrs with a ADI, Confidently ready.

The only thing I think I need practice at is reversing round a junction, turn in the road, bay parking, reverse parking;

I know how to do them and I can do them, I just know I can do them better if I spend some time on them.

Everything else is pretty good, I sometimes have a confidence problem seeing gaps in roundabouts but I always go when I'm sure im not going to smash in to someone or cause someone to break.

Old enough

Doesn't really help. Lots of temporary policies have age restrictions which would rule out that option depending on how old 'old enough' is. IIRC the youngest age at which most policies will work for temp cover is 21, or 25 if the car is in a very high insurance group.

To be honest, I'd book 3 hours with an ADI - 1 as a practice, another as a practice before the test and the 3rd for the use of the car for your test.

Clickthepepper does 17-too old a few other places do too.

Yep an ADI is only good to tell you your doing things right and make sure you dont pick up bad habits from the other driver teaching you. I know how to drive so the input from any other driving would fall on deaf ears.

Oh dear. Good luck with your test.

Sigh, You took something I said out of context... again.

Negative input, I know plenty of people with questionable methods of driving.

You don't need to be taught to drive now, you need to be taught to pass the test. A driving instructor can do this. Your mate can't.

These people have got through and passed the test you haven't, real learning comes after you pass. You need to learn how to pass the test, getting over confident and your bound to fail I have seen this so many times especially with driving tests/learning. :o

EDIT : Beaten :p

Whats the difference? I've had enough lessons to know whats expected of me for a pass.

So you can drive(so can i ) but you're not sure on ANY of the things you need to do on the test?

I've had countless hours with my instructor and no driving elsewhere(except ragging my brothers car out the back of work) and i know what to expect in a test.

If you've had 12 hours with an ADI I think you should be ok, get another couple in close to your test purely to practice your manuevres and refresh your memory and you'll be grand.
Whatever you do don't bother getting your mate to sit in, you'll only pick up bad habits that you'll end up exhibiting in the test.

re read it.

AFAIK You need to do 3 maneuvers and show you can drive to the standard

There's a bit more too it than that. The examiner will literally pick up on everything, hesitation at junctions, going a bit too slow, a bit too fast, causing another driver to brake, road positioning, proper repeated use of mirrors, general observation etc.

Just to echo what has already been said by others. I remember passing my test with only one minor, yet still being woefully unprepared for the dangers of the road. Other motorists are a lot less accommodating when you haven't got those big Ls stuck to your car.

So you can do a left reverse on wide or tight corners? Add in going from going downhill to going uphill round the corner? Controlled stop.....you know what to do and what observations to make before moving off again?

I dont want to sound like a **** as i havent even passed yet just....no point wasting you're money if you fail it. My mate's mate passed with like 3 lessons.....dont know him so cant comment.

It could just be your posting style, but the arrogance that seems to be coming through on your posts will cost you.
