Command and Conquer 4: Tiberium Twilight

Basically the producers at EALA say it's the last game in the Tiberium/Kane verse. There's the FMV teaser trailer, a game mechanics video out on gametrailers.com and a host of beta game pics and unit profiles about.

I for one have always anticipated CNC games more than any other and i've played all the spin offs happily in the comfort of the usual build base, army, mess everything else up macro/micro on the map but i've got a few doubts about this last one in the series.

Apparently, it's not the end of CNC, just the Tiberium/Kane verse.

I'd like to know what anyone else thinks?

Just watched the video and does anyone else think the units look really low-res and a bit crap? Almost looks like it could be a fan made mod in some places :/
I agree, some of the units look pathetic. The Avatar has crayola crayons for cannons and the MKII that I loved in Tib Sun just looks like a cardboard box with legs. It also looks far too cartoonesque á la Red Alert 3. I was hoping for a darker outlook towards the artwork being as Tiberium and war has all but pretty much killed off the human race.

The release date is March 2010, so it's not like they've got a whole load of time to change things. At the very most a few units will get a facelift like the Avatar. Apparently there was such a uproar about those cannons, that the designers actually listened and are redesigning it. I'll still get it of course purely for the storyline, but the rest looks like it will stay unfortunately. I'm keeping my fingers crossed in any event.

I'd be happy if they remake C&C1 and red alert 1 with fancy graphics... They were pure gold.
Yeah, if it ain't broke... I personally have no quarrel with EA despite them setting Westwood on fire and urinating on each and everyone of its employees afterwards. It's business and and I for one am all for the conglomerate money making machine.

The franchise is still alive and kicking, we have a steady supply of new games, Battlecast Primetime (CNC TV), a solid community base and a community manager that gives a crap despite EA's constant death threats from stalwart gamers. Basically, I couldn't care who owns CNC, I love the franchise too much, so as long as the continuum keeps going, i'm game.

I apprehensively await CNC4 with optimism despite them screwing with the tried and tested mechanics we know and love.

Let's face it, CNC has been dying a slow and painful death for sometime. No wonder they are looking to mix things up a bit.
