I know, I know, its just EA blatently cashing in on an expired franchise
Its basically 17 titles from the franchise.. bit like "The first decade" but it also has the recent stuff like cnc3/4 and ra3 bundled in

But has anybody picked this up?

I've got most of the games either on hard copy or digitally in the case of the more recent releases.. I noticed aside from Origin (£25), a couple various retailers are offering the game as well

But its hard to tell wether they actually sell the thing on DVD or wether they just send a empty dvd case with the origin code inside

Any opinions? Would actually be nice to have all the collection on a dvd if thats not the case.. especially if they all work under windows 7 as advertised..

Plus I figure if I wait a little while I'll be able to pick it up on fleabay for a tenner before long if its not discounted over the inevitable xmas sales

(The other thing)

Is there anywhere at all selling settlers 3 gold digitally?
I'm keeping an eye on GOG for this naturally... but I get the impression we won't see it anytime soon

Gold is basically the game with 2 expansion packs (amazon and mission disc)
Watched a video on youtube and now I've got a disturbing desire to play it again but can't be arsed raiding my loft for the box with the cds in it :D

Cheers and have a good one

Great stuff, thank you :)

So I was right about the "phsyical" edition being a empty dvd box with origin code inside? Bit disapointed with that as it sort of makes you feel like origin has your nuts in a clamp so to speak :P

Obviously we know what to expect from the games themselves I'm wondering how true to their compatability claims are as to wether they simply went the ol' dosbox route with the westwood titles in the package

By chance I stumbled across some articles/reviews and people are reporting you can't actually mod the games either... which sort of boggles the mind because what little community Renegade has is based on them :P

I think I'll hold off after all and wait till this turns up in a bargain bit, no mods sort of killed it for me

the old games are too ugly to play now if you ask me, everything up to tiberian sun.

See my signature :P Aye they've aged but so long as the gameplay is enjoyable for me (and its stable) I'll enjoy it..

Maybe im just becoming cynnical with newer titles I tend to be more excited about new releases on GOG than the latest cod/mmo etc hehe

I have them too.. but if the phsyical version was infact a dvd as opposed to an origin code I honestly might had picked it up just for the convenience of having it on a single media

They are just getting super lazy... I mean really.. when gog advertises stuff as compatible on win7 when it isnt, theres a bloody huge uproar about it and they either correct their label on the product or (eventually) hotfix it... and we're talking about games sold for £3 a pop not the £25 ea wants for this

If generals 2 is half as good as the first it'd do well.. based on the problems with the collection I wouldn't trust them to even get it that right though

Am i the only person even remotely interested in settlers? :(
(not the drm ridden filth which was s7, but the older ones)
