Hello

I'm just in the process of getting all of my old software installed on my new PC, it is a Vista Ultmate 64 based system running 4Gb RAM and an 8800GT ad was bought pre-built from OcUK.

Just tried installing C&C3 which ran fine on my XP rig but I cannot get it to work on my new PC. I keep getting a directX error message at the startup splash screen telling me to make sure I have DirectX 9 or higher installed and that hardware acceleration is not disabled in control panel.

Well I've reinstalled the graphics driver that came on the CD and also downloaded DirectX from the Microsoft site (even though I suspect they were installed as part of the graphics card installation??) but it still does not work.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? I wasn't sure if this should go in this forum or the graphics card forum.

Thanks

Mike

I can't help you but that error sounds remarkably familiar. Try googling for directx errors with C&C3.exe. Fyi I use C&C3 on x64 with a 8800GTX and have never had that, even with the Kanes Raft expansion. I seem to remember people having that error when the game first came out though. Is your game patched up?
