aThis post on Media Feet Underground offers up rumors that a new C&C-themed first-person shooter is being planned by EALA:
In a recent internal meeting at EALA on February 23rd, 2007, it was announced to the project team leaders of all EALA projects that the Crysis engine would be moving in-house in the very near future. Speculation began to arise internally about a Command and Conquer Renegade sequel seeing that the EALA studio is primarily known for RTS titles and Crysis is a next generation FPS engine. After discussing this with an EALA employee who wishes to not be named, it was stated that there is an extremely high chance that Electronic Arts’ LA studio will be developing a new FPS Command and Conquer title for the PC. It is not known if the title will be a true sequel to Renegade or a new stand alone IP however EA is very serious about exploring the options of the Crysis engine with current IPs. Stay tuned as we get more information
I don't think it's a hoax...but it IS rumor for the time being, and a good one at that. Besides, making an FPS in the C&C Universe would put cash in the coffers for EA, and they know it. I welcome a new C&C FPS, and believe an announcement will come before the year is up.

I thought Renegade was an absolutely brilliant game, loved it to pieces. So many memories of playing it.

Hope there is some substance to this.

Loved the multi player Renegade but didnt like the single player that much.

My guess would be in the C&C red alert 2 universe, this is because they hired someone to do concept art for C&C3 and the sequel to Renegade a while ago (I think this was before generals) and the concept art for Renegade 2 looked like its was set in the C&C red alert 2 universe.

loved the concept of single player, Kane + cutscenes based in C&C always means some funny stories. it was in theory good but the graphics were pretty poor and the landscapes were so sparse. was fun because you got to play as all the units you've commanded for years. the ai was shockingly bad though. multi was sooooo good till a big patch i think which what, there weren't orca's, then they bought the orca's in, orca's could destroy anything but they could also get killed by 2 shots from a sniper. so almost everyone was a sniper with half the players camping out waiting for a orca to spawn again :( completely sucked after that. great great thinking behind the multiplayer though, bombs, but buildings that can be blown up, repaired, time bombs, stealth, just so freaking cool.

if they could do a full game which had a proper single player, similar multiplayer to before(though more game modes aswell) with the cryengine2 would rock so hard.
