commandos strike force

The beta was pretty good but deffinetly lacked a certain somthing.. it is trying to be a mixture of MOHAA and H&D .. but dosnt really quite pull it off. Plus being a port lacks the graphical punch.

Maybe its just cos i played the game for 1000 + hours is the reason I hate it so much. But the game is not ground breaking, (DX7 with dx8 stuff) the AI is worse than Goldeneye for the N64 and has endless spawning enemies, invisble walls block practically your every movement, it runs terrible on even high end computers. Multiplayer was added as an after thought. This really could have been a good game, but it was rushed, the developers got bored of it very quickly and it shows. Its been 3 months since i last played it so they have had time to do some major tweaking. The only level worth playing is the large town level. If you are hoping that this is the FPS version of Commando's 1, 2 you will be very disappointed. No clever tactics needed for 90% of the time. Point and shoot.

I'm not blaming Eidos for this game as they worked very hard and tried without much luck to get the Spanish developers to do a better job, but the fact is they can't program, or animate with the software they were using.

I'm not saying dont buy it, but dont expect it to be the next MOH

Surprised that Pyro haven't put in the effort as they are tiny outfit with only a handful of titles. A major flop could hit them hard.

The problem with Pyro like i mentioned before is that they get bored of projects very quickly. It happened with Commando's 2 when they started designing 3, it happened during the making of 3 when they started designing Imperial Glory (Good game though) but got bored when they starting designing Commando's Strike Force, then a few months in from that they got bored and became more interested in the new MMORPG they are working on now.

Edit: From what rumours i heard Pyro must have had Eidos pretty tied up contract wise so there wasn't much they could do about it.

Doh was looking forward to it and hoping it was a cracker.

There are some levels that are quite pleasing, but the novelty runs out quickly.
No doubt the demo included two level's 'Panzers' and 'A White Alamo' - Quite a nice snow effect. Level's to look out for in the full game 'A fine morning' - A huge town level and 'Eye for an Eye' - A large sniping level.

By all means go out and buy the game, just dont expect too much, it's the first time Pyro have ever made an FPS.

Hehehe I loved the commando games, on my first PC they looked really good and detailed, all these little gizmos like the diver and hiding in snow and all that.

One of my fav maps was where you started on one side of a river and had to get into a compound on the other side (with a gunboat protecting the river), sniping all the guys off the walls and then storming accross in the dingy. Great stuff.

I wasnt to pleassed when I saw they were making it into a FPS but it looks like an average game with some different gameplay, the demo will probably decide it for most people.

I remember how good commandos 2 was :) and couldn’t wait to get my hands on 3 and it turn out to be a terrible terrible game :(

and that mix with the bad memories of C&C renegade single player (multi wasn’t to bad) , lets just say I have a bad feeling about this game

It got 84% in the new PC Gamer, they enjoyed it.

Its a mutually benefitial agreement. Eidos (or any games producer) gets a good review and publicity in return PC Gamer (or any other games magazine) gets an exclusive review and therefore increased sales. One of marketings main jobs in a games industry is to ensure a game sell's as well as possible and if that means bribing everyone and everything, so beit. I never trust any review off Gamespot,as i suspect that games there only get bad reviews if they havent been given any money.
