Hello I have just bought a Nikon D50 with 18-55mm Kit Lens last week and really spent the week or so taking lots of images (2gig) and have narrowed it down to these several for the start of my portfolio. I would like some critics of them please. Any additional image about the images I'll be able to give. This is my first go at photography so I'm only a noob.

I like 1 and 2, they work well, I dont like 3 as i find the white and dark area in the bottom of the image distracting.
4 is hmmm OK but i think it could crop better, amybe lose the vertical bits above the door ?
5 i like, the same with 6 but number 7 just doesnt do it at all, to much going on in the back ground and the bottom is missing.

Some are quite nice but no offence that text is awful, it's distracting and poor - no AA and just looks too big and pixelly. Number 2 is probably my favourite.

I like 1 and 5 a lot, although maybe the verticals on the mini need straightening?

The other eye shot and flower macro arn't bad either, but the others don't really do anything for me.

For me its the flower and the mini, prefer colour pictures myself, find them more attractive but that mini cool is really tidily done.

Thanks for all the comments. Regarding the Blackvault Photography text, how could I claim they where my photos if I removed the text?

I don't think he's saying remove the text. Just change it. Maybe make it smaller, or change its location. Maybe make it a water mark.

I think personlly that the size and font is a bad choice. Rethink it but you should have your name on the photos to, as you say, claim ownership, take credit.

Yep create a transparent image logo or transparent text in a simple font, nothing more is needed too.

The first 2 are my fav, the firts looks like GMan from HL2 \m/

The others though don't appeal to me much although exposure and everything appears to be sound, the subjects don't have anything appealing about them
