I've always wondered this and perhaps someone knows the answer.
I just saw BBC1 showing highlights of the Holland V Japan match which ITV showed live earlier on.
In these cases where one channel has the game live and the other shows edited highlights afterwards, how is the commentary done?
Do the commentators for the channel that doesn't have the live match, sit and commentate through the live match even though only snippets will ever be heard?
Or (what I think) do they put the highlights together first and then pretend to be commentating live?
